clinic visit

Employees of Alpine School District have a new way to access healthcare. The EMI Health CareClinic is available to district employees and their dependents at no cost or near no-cost for those on EMI health plans.

The clinic is a model that the district hopes will give employees more convenient access to care while reducing costs over the long term.

"This reinforces its long-standing commitment to employee well-being and access to affordable healthcare,” said Rob Smith, superintendent of Alpine School District.

The clinic opened February 2 and has served more than 200 employees or their dependents so far.

“It's good for our employees because it’s a no-cost visit for most,” said Chell Warner, a benefits coordinator at Alpine School District. “It’s good for our organization because it brings down the costs for a lot of routine visits.”

Employees enrolled in EMI health insurance plans are eligible for clinic visits. Most employees will have no co-pay. The clinic is centrally located in Lehi at a temporary location. EMI Health is looking for a permanent home that is convenient to employees across the district.

District leadership has stressed that the clinic has been designed with long-term continuity in mind. When Alpine School District transitions into three new districts in 2027, the EMI Health CareClinic is scalable to serve employees across all three districts, ensuring uninterrupted access to care and preserving the Board’s original vision of employee-centered healthcare.

The clinic has full-time staff including a dedicated physician’s assistant, Troy Bitters. Warner visited the clinic recently as a patient and described her experience as “wonderful.”

“I was surprised how easy it was to make an appointment and be seen by the PA,” she said. “Troy was great. He was patient, listened well, and spent time with me to understand my needs. He called me with a follow-up to make sure I understood my care.”

Clinic Hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

“Together, Alpine School District and EMI Health are delivering healthcare at a significantly more affordable cost in an increasingly expensive healthcare market.” according to a news release sent by the district.

“By bringing this healthcare clinic to our employees, we are investing in their health, time, and peace of mind,” said Smith. “This clinic reflects our board’s commitment to doing what’s right for our staff—today and in the years ahead.”

“EMI Health is honored to partner with Alpine School District on this important initiative,” said Steve Morrison, chief executive officer of EMI Health. “This clinic demonstrates what’s possible when organizations work together to prioritize people and make healthcare simpler, more accessible, and more affordable.”

Warner hopes more employees will take advantage of the new benefit.

Employees have three options to make appointments:

“It’s still early, and we are doing our best to get the word out,” added Smith. “The clinic model not only improves access to care but also helps control long-term healthcare costs while supporting a healthier, more resilient workforce.”
